Madera Veterinary Hospital is locally owned and operated by Heather Redmon, DVM. We are located at 7681 S. Houghton Rd., which is just south of Valencia, very close to Vail and the Rita Ranch areas. We have been proudly serving our local community for over 20 years and look forward to providing high-quality veterinary services for another 20 years (or more)!

Meet Our Staff

Heather R. Redmon, DVM

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Heather Redmon, owner of Madera Veterinary Hospital, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Chemistry. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation, she and her husband moved back to Tucson where she began working as a veterinarian at an emergency clinic.

In 1999, after the first of their three daughters was born, Dr. Redmon joined the team at Madera providing small animal services. She purchased the hospital in 2008. She and her family love the Vail and Rita Ranch areas and the small-town feel of the community.

Dr. Redmon’s professional memberships include the Southern Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. In her spare time, she spends time with her husband, Don, and their three daughters. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, hiking, photography, and singing with The Vail Chorale. She and her family share their home with a wide variety of animals from dogs and cats to reptiles and a horse.

Our History

Our hospital dates back to an earlier chapter of Tucson. Originally, it housed the administration of one of Tucson’s oldest brick factories and produced many of the bricks used in Tucson’s landmark buildings. Years later, we started our hospital in an apparently forgotten corner of Tucson and have since grown with Rita Ranch helping to establish our community’s unique southwestern flavor.

Many of our neighbors to the east would be surprised at what used to stand where their homes are now.

The photo on the right is from the mid-1960’s showing the brickyard office that is now Madera Veterinary Hospital.

This view was taken from what is now the clinic parking lot looking to the northeast. A subdivision now stands where this building once was.

This picture is a close up of the front doors shown in the picture above. The finished bricks are coming out of the plant, ready to be trucked out to build Tucson!

This equipment was used to move the raw materials into the brick plant. This was to the east of the building in the two pictures above.
